Terms & Conditions

By purchasing a ticket and attending the Makers Festival (“the Festival”), you agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions:

 

1. TICKETS & ENTRY

1.1. Tickets Are Non-Refundable but Transferable:

  • Tickets are valid for the specified event dates only.

  • Tickets may be transferred to another person if you can no longer attend. The Festival is not responsible for reissuing tickets in case of transfers.

1.2. Day Pass Holders:

  • Day pass holders must leave the festival grounds by 6:00 PM on the day of their ticket.

1.3. Ticket Scalping & Fraud:

  • Tickets purchased through unauthorized resellers are not valid for entry.

  • The Festival is not responsible for any ticket scams or fraudulent ticket purchases made outside our official sales channels.

1.4. Cancellation & Postponement:

  • If the Festival is canceled by the organizers, attendees may receive a refund or credit for a future event at the discretion of the organizers.

  • If only one day of the event can proceed due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, no full refunds will be given, but partial refunds or ticket credits may be considered.

1.5. Force Majeure Clause:

  • The Festival will not be liable for cancellation, postponement, or interruptions due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to extreme weather, natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, riots, or acts of God.

1.6. Right to Deny Entry:

  • The Festival reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any attendee who is intoxicated, disruptive, or in violation of these terms.

  • No refund will be given if you are removed from the Festival for breaking the rules.

 

2. SECURITY, SEARCH & PROHIBITED ITEMS

2.1. Security Checks & Bag Searches:

  • All attendees, bags, and belongings are subject to search upon entry.

  • The Festival reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone in possession of prohibited items.

2.2. Prohibited Items Include (but are not limited to):

  • Weapons, firearms, explosives, fireworks, or sharp objects.

  • Illegal substances, including marijuana.

  • Outside food and beverages.

  • Large umbrellas, drones, laser pointers, or air horns.

  • Animals, except for certified guide dogs and service dogs.

 

3. HEALTH & SAFETY

3.1. Enter at Your Own Risk:

  • Attendees acknowledge that outdoor festivals involve inherent risks, including injuries, uneven terrain, and exposure to the elements.

  • The Festival, its organizers, staff, vendors, and affiliates are not liable for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred on-site or during a workshop or activity at the Festival.

3.2. Sun Protection & Hydration:

  • Attendees are encouraged to bring sunscreen and hats.

  • Water and beverages will be available for purchase on-site.

3.3. Medical Assistance & Emergency Services:

  • A medic will be on-site at all times for medical assistance.

  • In the event of a medical emergency, contact the nearest Festival staff member.

 

4. ALCOHOL, DRUGS & SMOKING POLICY

4.1. Zero-Tolerance Policy on Drug Use (Including Marijuana):

  • Drug use, including marijuana, is strictly prohibited at all times. Anyone found in possession of or using illegal substances will be removed immediately.

  • The Festival reserves the right to report any drug-related incidents to law enforcement.

4.2. Alcohol Policy & Age Verification:

  • Alcohol sales are strictly for attendees 18 years and older.

  • A valid photo ID (passport, driver’s license, or government-issued ID) is required to purchase alcohol.

  • Alcohol consumption is not permitted inside workshops or makers' tents.

4.3. Smoking & Vaping Policy:

  • Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated smoking areas.

  • Smoking or vaping in general areas, workshops, or near makers’ tents is strictly prohibited.

  • Anyone found smoking or vaping outside of designated areas will be escorted out of the Festival without a refund.

 

5. CAMPING RULES & REGULATIONS

5.1. Camping Pass Requirement:

  • A R500 camping pass per person is required for access to the camping area (valid for Friday & Saturday night).

5.2. Camping Facilities & Responsibility:

  • No camping gear is provided. Attendees must bring their own tents, sleeping bags, and other essentials.

  • Toilets will be available, but additional facilities (e.g., showers) may be limited.

5.3. Quiet Hours:

  • Quiet time in the camping area is from 11:00 PM onwards. Please respect fellow campers.

 

6. WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES

6.1. Workshops Are First-Come, First-Served:

  • Entry to workshops is not guaranteed. Booking lists will be available at each workshop entrance on the day of the event.

6.2. Children & Age Restrictions:

  • Children under 12 are NOT permitted in standard workshops. Specific kids' workshops will be available.

  • Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

6.3. Workshop Safety & Liability Waiver:

  • Participation is at your own risk.

  • The Festival, its organizers, instructors, and staff are not liable for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred during any workshop or activity.

 

7. MAKERS MARKET & ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

7.1. Independent Vendors – No Liability:

  • Purchases from the Makers Market are NOT included in the ticket price.

  • Each vendor is an independent business, and the Festival is not responsible for any products, services, or disputes between vendors and attendees.

7.2. Cash-Free Event:

  • The Festival is a cashless event. All purchases must be made via card or digital payment methods.

 

8. ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

8.1. Leave No Trace:

  • Attendees must dispose of waste in designated recycling and trash bins.

  • Single-use plastic bottles and straws are strongly discouraged.

  • Respect nature and the festival grounds—leave it as you found it.

 

9. MEDIA RELEASE & PHOTOGRAPHY

9.1. Consent to Media Use:

  • By attending, you grant permission for your image, voice, and likeness to be captured in photographs, videos, and other media for promotional purposes.

9.2. Intellectual Property & Branding:

  • Attendees may not use the Festival name, logo, or branding for commercial purposes without prior approval.

 

10. BEHAVIOR & CODE OF CONDUCT

10.1. Zero-Tolerance for Disruptive Behavior:

  • Aggressive, violent, or inappropriate behavior towards staff, vendors, or other attendees will result in immediate removal.

10.2. Respect for Artists & Makers:

  • Do not touch, alter, or interfere with maker installations or creative works without permission.

 

11. LIABILITY & INDEMNITY WAIVER

11.1. Acknowledgment of Risks:

  • By attending the Festival, you acknowledge that outdoor events carry certain risks, including but not limited to injuries, weather conditions, and interactions with equipment.

11.2. Indemnification:

  • You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Festival, its organizers, staff, affiliates, and sponsors from any claims, damages, injuries, or liabilities arising from your participation.

 

Final Terms

By purchasing a ticket and attending the Festival, you acknowledge and agree to all the above Terms & Conditions.
